As we near the launch of Marvel Tokon: Fighting Souls on August 6 for PlayStation 5, we’re slowly getting the full roster of heroes and villains revealed, with a total of 20 being promised for launch. Now, we have two more to add to the list. Speaking of which, here’s the full list.
The Hulk is probably not the most surprising entrant, and he will be joining Captain America’s Fighting Avengers. This version of the Hulk was deemed to powerful and unstable, and thus the world has exiled him to the Savage Lands where he lives a peaceful life, adorning himself with skulls and bones. He is unsurprisingly not the most trusting of his fellow heroes, as they supported his exile.
It’s a backstory that clearly draws heavily from one of my favourite Hulk saga’s, where the giant green monster is exiled to a faraway planet and winds up becoming a gladiator, a husband and a ruler. That storyline is Planet Hulk, and later transitions into World War Hulk. Both are well worth reading.
Hulk gets his own unique Gamma gauge, and when it maxes out he gets a massive power boost.
The other new character is Black Panther, this time with Shuri under the mask after she recently inherited the title. Compared to the Hulk’s raw power, Shuri is all about speed and agility on the battlefield, using the Spear of Bashenga to dish out damage.
She uses something called Bast’s Blessing, allowing her to dash in multiple directions. It’s powered by a dedicated gauage.
Wakanda was also revealed as a new stage for the game.
Finally, we got more details on what seems to be the main antogonist in the game, The Champion.
“One of the Elders of the Universe, Champion has existed since the birth of the universe and travels the cosmos alongside his right-hand showwoman, Promoter,” says the official PlayStation Blog. “A cosmic conqueror obsessed with hand-to-hand combat, he journeys from planet to planet in search of worthy opponents.”
Failure to quench The Champion’s thirst for mortal kcombat will result in the destruction of Earth, so no pressure, eh?
