Summer Game Fest 2026 is over, and after two hours of reveals, updates, trailers and enough world premieres to make Geoff Keighley legally qualify as a machine gun, we finally know a lot more about what is coming to consoles and PC over the next few years.
This is the more fleshed-out version of my earlier quick recap, but please consider it a living article. Some platform details, release dates and publisher/developer information may still be updated as more official pages and trailers go live, and I’m so busy at the moment that I’m struggling to get it all down.
The showcase opened strongly with Resident Evil Veronica and never really slowed down. Horror games were everywhere, RPGs were plentiful, racing games quietly had one of the best nights of the show, and somewhere along the way, Snoop Dogg walked on stage to talk about Tupac appearing in a video game. As Summer Game Fests go, it was certainly one of them.
Personally, I don’t think the show quite had that one earth-shattering announcement that completely steals the evening. There was no single “one more thing” moment that left me staring at the screen in disbelief. Instead, this year’s showcase relied on sheer variety, serving up a little something for almost everyone. Whether that was enough will depend largely on your taste in games.
And really, this was less of a case of it being a bad show, and more of it just not being for me.
Resident Evil Veronica
Publisher: Capcom
Developer: Capcom
Platforms: PS5, Xbox Series X|S, PC, Nintendo Switch 2
Release date: 2027
Capcom kicked off the show with Resident Evil Veronica, a remake of Resident Evil Code: Veronica. The trailer featured Claire Redfield searching for her brother Chris in Paris, France, with plenty of ominous apartment horror, photorealistic environments and creeping dread.
As openers go, this was a strong one. My first reaction was mostly “answer your damn doorbell,” but once the trailer got going it quickly became clear why they chose it to start the show.
Cuphead Sequel And Mighty Cuphead Adventure
Publisher: Studio MDHR
Developer: Studio MDHR
Platforms: TBA
Release date: TBA
Studio MDHR announced that a full Cuphead sequel is in development, though details are thin for now. The bigger immediate surprise was Mighty Cuphead Adventure, a retro-inspired Cuphead spin-off with a more 8-bit-styled look.
The reveal itself was framed through a charming puppet news broadcast, because of course it was.
Alien: Isolation 2
Publisher: Sega / 20th Century Games
Developer: Creative Assembly
Platforms: PS5, Xbox Series X|S, PC, Nintendo Switch 2
Release date: TBA
After more than a decade of waiting, Alien: Isolation 2 is officially real.
Creative Assembly showed the first trailer for the long-awaited sequel, revealing a bleak colony setting, storm-lashed environments, a flamethrower and, naturally, a Xenomorph having absolutely no respect for personal space. The game will take players both inside a claustrophobic colony and outside into the surrounding environment.
Twelve years later, Alien: Isolation fans finally have a sequel to obsess over.
Gen Atlas
Publisher: Epic Games
Developer: genDESIGN
Platforms: PS5, Xbox Series X|S, PC via Epic Games Store Only
Release date: TBA
Fumito Ueda, the creator of Ico, Shadow of the Colossus and The Last Guardian, returned with gen Atlas, previously known as Project Robot.
The trailer showed a lonely sci-fi world filled with colossal robots and a strange terraforming project. It looks unmistakably like a Ueda game: quiet, strange, beautiful and probably destined to make people argue about whether it is genius or deliberately obtuse.
Blood Message
Publisher: NetEase Games
Developer: 24 Entertainment
Platforms: Consoles and PC
Release date: TBA
Blood Message is a historical action-adventure game from NetEase and 24 Entertainment. Set in the late Tang Dynasty in 848 AD, the trailer focused on a father-and-son journey, horseback combat, siege warfare and large-scale battles.
It looked ambitious, cinematic and surprisingly grounded compared to some of the other fantasy-heavy titles at the show. What I love is the idea that our main character is just a messenger rather than a grand hero.
“Blood Message is an ode to the unsung heroes” says the blurb. Looks promising.
Stranger Than Heaven
Publisher: Sega
Developer: Ryu Ga Gotoku Studio
Platforms: PS5, Xbox Series X|S, PC
Release date: January 14, 2027
Stranger Than Heaven already looked like classic RGG Studio weirdness, with tattooed men in saunas, stylish title cards, crime drama and musical flair.
Then Tupac showed up in the game.
Then Snoop Dogg walked on stage.
At that point, I began to question reality. Geoff Keighley seemed unable to keep a straight face while looking at Snoop Dogg. I started wondering if the Coke-Cola I was drinking had been spiked.
The game is described as a multi-era action-adventure saga set across five cities and eras of modern Japan. It also apparently involves Tupac, somehow. And Snoop Dogg.
Oh, and Snoop reminded us that he has a videogame team he’s working with to create hip-hop-based games.
HAEX
Publisher: TBA
Developer: Dead Astronauts
Platforms: PC
Release date: TBA
HAEX, pronounced “Haeks” because apparently spelling is optional now, is a 1-4 player co-op survival FPS set in a Nordic wilderness overtaken by alien technology.
Players scavenge for supplies, fight alien creatures and manage survival elements like body temperature and thirst. The trailer showed frozen environments, massive alien structures and players running like hell from something they absolutely should not have activated.
Dead by Daylight 10th Anniversary
Publisher: Behaviour Interactive
Developer: Behaviour Interactive
Platforms: Existing Dead by Daylight platforms
Release date: Anniversary livestream will take place on June 14.
Dead by Daylight appeared with a bloody birthday-themed teaser involving masks, hooks, balloons and the usual cheery murder energy.
It was mainly a tease for the game’s 10th anniversary celebrations.
Mortal Shell II
Publisher: Playstack
Developer: Cold Symmetry
Platforms: PC via Steam
Release date: TBC
Beta: Open beta available now on PC.
Mortal Shell II made a strong impression with a dark fantasy trailer full of brutal combat and Soulslike atmosphere. Plus, you can play as a bard, which is freaking awesome.
I somehow missed that this existed until now, but the trailer looked excellent and the open beta is available now on Steam.
Sand: Raiders of Sophie
Publisher: tinyBuild
Developer: Hologryph, TowerHaus
Platforms: PC, PlayStation, Xbox.
Release date: June 10
Server Slam: Available now
Sand: Raiders of Sophie is a co-op survival game built around giant walking vehicle platforms called Tramplers roaming across the desert.
Players can build and customise their mobile base piece by piece, store supplies, fight enemies and other players, and drive enormous weaponised walkers. It looked cool at a glance, although I will admit my enthusiasm for yet another co-op survival game is somewhat limited.
You can play the server slam right now ahead of the June 10 release.
Assassin’s Creed IV: Black Flag Resynced
Publisher: Ubisoft
Developer: Ubisoft Singapore
Platforms: PS5, Xbox Series S/X, PC
Release date: July 9
Ubisoft showed Assassin’s Creed IV: Black Flag Resynced, a remastered version of one of the best Assassin’s Creed games.
The trailer featured Edward Kenway, improved visuals and a reimagined version of the sea shanty Leave Her Johnny. The graphical overhaul looks strong, although Edward’s updated character model may take some getting used to.
Still, Black Flag remains brilliant, so this one should have plenty of people ready to hoist the sails again. What’s really going to make or break the game is the gameplay changes and new content.
Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles: The Last Ronin
Publisher: Paramount Games Studio
Developer: PlatinumGames
Platforms: PS5, Xbox Series X|S, PC
Release date: TBA
The Last Ronin finally resurfaced, with confirmation that PlatinumGames is developing the project. This bodes well for the combat. Plus, we get a badass rendition of the classic theme song.
Unfortunately, it was only a very brief teaser. Sewer grate. Theme music. Excitement. Then nothing.
Give me the bloody game back, Geoff.
Fortnite: Runners
Publisher: Epic Games
Developer: Epic Games
Platforms: Existing Fortnite platforms
Release date: Launching tonight
Fortnite showed its new Runners season, featuring elemental creatures, parkour-style action, John Wick, an anthropomorphic duck and a level of chaos I am increasingly unqualified to understand.
Fortnite has long since stopped being a game and become a cultural containment breach. Please make it stop. I’m scared.
An Eggstremely Hard Game
Publisher: Devotion Interactive
Developer: BBear Studio
Platforms: PC
Release date: July 24, 2026
An Eggstremely Hard Game is a physics-based co-op game where players control geese trying to carry an egg through obstacle courses.
It supports up to four players and looks like one of those friendship-destroying comedy physics games, except with geese. As soon as you give me geese, though, my brain immediately goes to Untitled Goose Game.
This could be fun, but the annoying voice-over in the trailer really turned me off.
Crossfire
Publisher: Smilegate
Developer: That’s No Moon
Platforms: PS5, Xbox Series X|S, PC
Release date: TBA
That’s No Moon revealed Crossfire, a cinematic single-player action game focused on grounded stealth combat, adaptive cover and two enemy operators forced into a temporary alliance.
The trailer itself didn’t immediately grab me, and some of the dialogue felt a little too forced, but the developer’s explanation helped. The adaptive cover system, where characters dynamically adjust their stance based on available cover and line of sight, sounds genuinely interesting.
I think this has some serious potential, and the reaction from people so far has been pretty positive.
Control Resonant
Publisher: Remedy Entertainment
Developer: Remedy Entertainment
Platforms: PS5, Xbox Series X|S, PC, Mac
Release date: September 24, 2026
Remedy returned with another trailer for Control Resonant.
The game still looks fantastic, showcasing that unique blend of weird architecture and supernatural chaos that made the original Control so memorable. The latest trailer revealed more of Manhattan, which has been transformed by paranatural forces, and showed off story missions, side quests, bosses and puzzles.
My only concern is that Remedy may be showing a little too much of it. I love Control, but at some point you have to stop feeding us trailers and let the mystery breathe.
Still fucking mad hyped for this, though.
Guild Wars 3
Publisher: ArenaNet
Developer: ArenaNet
Platforms: PS5, PC
Release date: TBA
Beta: Fall 2027
ArenaNet officially revealed Guild Wars 3, the first new mainline Guild Wars game since 2012.
The beta begins in Fall 2027, and the game will bring the long-running MMORPG series to PlayStation 5 for the first time. MMOs are not my thing, but the crowd reaction made it clear this was a big moment for a lot of people. I’m happy for the community that they are finally get the sequel.
Gundam Rogue Orbit
Publisher: Bandai Namco Entertainment
Developer: Bandai Namco Entertainment
Platforms: PS5, Xbox Series X|S, PC
Release date: 2027
Gundam Rogue Orbit is a new third-person mech action game set in a new Gundam universe.
Players will customise and pilot mobile suits in fast-paced, cinematic combat. It took me a minute to figure out what it was because the stream had decided to wage war against audio sync, but we got there in the end.
Mystery solved. Everybody calm down. We figured it out.
Star Wars: Galactic Racer
Publisher: Secret Mode
Developer: Fuse Games
Platforms: PS5, Xbox Series X|S, PC
Release date: October 6, 2026
Star Wars: Galactic Racer received a new story trailer, showing more of its racing league, rival pilots and podracing action.
Honestly, the only thing you really need to know is this: podracing is back.
That is what we are here for. Everything else is secondary.
End of Abyss
Publisher: Epic Games Publishing
Developer: Section 9 Interactive
Platforms: PS5, Xbox Series X|S, PC via Epic Games Store
Release date: October 1
End of Abyss is a sci-fi horror action game with a semi-top-down perspective and alien beasties.
Add it to the increasingly large horror pile from this year’s showcase. It’s like Geoff decided that everyone needed more stressful nightmares in their lives. I don’t, Geoff.
Lost Harbor
Publisher: tinyBuild
Developer: tinyBuild
Platforms: PC via Steam
Release date: TBA
Lost Harbor began with fishing, a bird stealing your catch and peaceful coastal exploration.
Then it became a horror shooter full of sea-corrupted monsters, coral-covered bodies and creatures peeling themselves off walls.
So, yeah. It was not really about fishing.
“Zombie Apocalypse On A Boat. You’re stranded on a boat during a zombie outbreak in the beautiful San Juan islands of Washington State. How will you survive an open-world archipelago, where the living are just as much of a threat as the dead?”
Virtua Fighter: Crossroads
Publisher: Sega
Developer: Ryu Ga Gotoku Studio
Platforms: TBA
Release date: 2027
Sega revealed Virtua Fighter: Crossroads, a new entry in the classic fighting franchise from RGG Studio.
“Throughout the story, players will experience a variety of intense combat situations, complete with multi-opponent brawls and boss encounters. This distinct mode will live alongside a robust Versus mode experience, featuring a full suite of local and online options. The control scheme also carries forward the streamlined and intuitive design Virtua Fighter is known for, enhancing both tactical depth and visual realism, all while elevating the signature mind games to a whole new level.”
RuneScape: Dragonwilds
Publisher: Jagex
Developer: Jagex
Platforms: PS5, Xbox Series X|S, PC
Release date: September 15, 2026
Status: Available now in Early Access on PC
RuneScape: Dragonwilds is coming to consoles as part of its full 1.0 launch.
Set on the forgotten continent of Ashenfall, the co-op survival adventure has players gathering, building, crafting and preparing to face the Dragon Queen. I know next to nothing about RuneScape, but I can see this being fun with friends. I’m a little tempted to try it out. Once I get friends.
*cries*
Soulframe
Publisher: Digital Extremes
Developer: Digital Extremes
Platforms: PC
Release date: TBA
Soulframe appeared with a new look at Soulframe. More specifically, Soulframe: Preludes which is an alpha. You can sign up to play the alpha and hopefully get selected for free, or become a Founder to gain guaranteed access.
Unfortunately, this was during one of the points where my stream audio was badly out of sync, so I don’t have much useful to add beyond: fantasy, weirdness, vibes.
Grounded 2: Into The Abyss & Grounded 2 PS5 Releease
Publisher: Xbox Game Studios
Developer: Obsidian Entertainment / Eidos-Montréal
Platforms: Existing Grounded 2 platforms, PS5
Release date: August 11, 2026
Grounded 2 is getting an Into The Abyss update on August 11, and on the exact same day the game will launch on PS5. It’ll be in Early Access form, just like it is elsewhere.
More tiny survival chaos. More bugs. Presumably, more opportunities to be traumatised by insects.
Mafia: The Old Country – Man of Honor
Publisher: 2K
Developer: Hangar 13
Platforms: PS5 and likely existing Mafia: The Old Country platforms
Release date: August 14
Mafia: The Old Country is getting a story expansion called Man of Honor.
The DLC sees Enzo Favara working alongside Ennio Salieri and includes two new story chapters plus new Free Ride content. This one instantly had my attention because Mafia: The Old Country was fantastic, and Salieri’s return is a strong hook.
1666: Amsterdam
Publisher: Panach Digital Games
Developer: Panache Digital Games
Platforms: PC via Steam and Epic Games Store
Release date: Early Access later this year
Prologue: Free 30-minute prologue available now
Patrice Désilets, creator of Assassin’s Creed, finally revealed 1666: Amsterdam. This project has apparently been in the works in one form or another for about 16 years. And I thought I was bad for procrastinating.
It is a time-bending adventure with witchcraft, supernatural powers, cats and general weirdness.
The prologue is available now on PC for free. It seems to mostly focus on setting up the story, world etc., rather than the gameplay. The Steam description emphasises that the gameplay proper will be in the full game.
Also, you can play as a cat. Well, I’m sold.
Saw: Genesis
Publisher: Bloober Team
Developer: TBA
Platforms: TBA
Release date: TBA
Closed Alpha: Sign-ups open now
Billy the Puppet rolled onto the stage and asked Geoff Keighley if he wanted to play a game.
At that point, I had to ask whether somebody had put drugs in my Coke. Again.
Saw: Genesis is a 3v1 asymmetrical multiplayer horror game set after World War 1, centred around a character called The Judge, described as a precursor to Jigsaw.
Lords of the Fallen II
Publisher: CI Games
Developer: CI Games
Platforms: PS5, Xbox Series X|S, PC
Release date: 2026
Lords of the Fallen II received a new dark fantasy trailer, featuring new bosses, locations and the Katana weapon class.
If you like your action RPGs grim, violent and full of things trying to murder you in ruined kingdoms, this should be on your radar.
Star Wars Zero Company
Publisher: Electronic Arts / Lucasfilm Games
Developer: Bit Reactor
Platforms: PS5, Xbox Series X|S, PC
Release date: August 27, 2026
Star Wars Zero Company is the XCOM-style Star Wars tactics game from Bit Reactor.
The trailer showed squad-based combat, weapon customisation, character customisation, recruitable crew members and even Anakin Skywalker. As someone whose Star Wars fandom has taken repeated lightsaber wounds over the years, I was surprised by how interested I was in this.
They will need to nail the writing, though.
The Blood of Dawnwalker
Publisher: Bandai Namco Entertainment
Developer: Rebel Wolves
Platforms: PS5, Xbox Series X|S, PC
Release date: September 3, 2026
The Blood of Dawnwalker received a new story trailer, showing vampires emerging from hiding, modern-day elements and historical sequences set around 1349.
The game is an open-world dark fantasy action RPG with different day and night gameplay loops. Perhaps it is because I have been reading vampire novels lately, but this one is looking increasingly compelling every time it appears.
Add that to the stacked release schedule in September.
Among Us: On Guard
Publisher: Innersloth
Developer: Innersloth
Platforms: TBA
Release date: TBA
Among Us: On Guard is a standalone spin-off from the creators of Among Us.
It keeps the familiar bean-like characters but puts them in a mystery-solving setup involving crimes and investigations.
It’s sus. Obviously.
Among Us Animated Series
Publisher: Innersloth / CBS Studios
Platforms: Streaming details TBA
Release date: Available now
The Among Us animated series was also shown during the event.
It looks like a fast-paced animated comedy full of goofy gags, colourful characters and exactly the sort of chaos you would expect from Among Us becoming a TV show.
Also, the whole season was dropped on Paramount the morning of Summer Game Fest. Who pressed the bloody button too early?
007 First Light Story Content
Publisher: IO Interactive
Developer: IO Interactive
Platforms: Existing 007 First Light platforms
Release date: Later this year
007 First Light is getting a new story mission later this year. And a bunch of other stuff.
The new content brings back King Balma, the pirate king from the opening section of the game, which is good news because he vanishes surprisingly early in the main story. As someone currently reviewing the game, this was one of the more personally exciting updates of the show.
We also got a whole roadmap of content, including new challenges and upgrades for TacSim, a Switch 2 version launching, G2 Glasses, a New Game+ mode and more.
Turok Origins
Publisher: Saber Interactive
Developer: Saber Interactive
Platforms: TBA
Release date: Fall 2026
Turok Origins appeared during one of the rapid-fire Switch 2-style sizzle reels.
The dinosaur-shooting franchise returns in Fall 2026.
Aion 2
Publisher: NCSoft
Developer: NCSoft
Platforms: PC
Release date: September 2026
Aion 2 received a new trailer full of fantasy combat, winged characters, magic and large-scale action.
This was also the part of the show where I temporarily forgot which direction was east, so make of that what you will. Geoff’s influence was clearly starting to destroy my mind by this point.
Oh, and it’s another game for September. Bloody hell.
Wuthering Waves x Cyberpunk: Edgerunners
Publisher: Kuro Games
Developer: Kuro Games
Platforms: Existing Wuthering Waves platforms
Release date: June 8
Wuthering Waves is crossing over with Cyberpunk: Edgerunners.
The crossover launches June 8. Weird? Yes. But at this point, weird was very much the evening’s dominant flavour.
Monster Hunter Wilds: Ascendance
Publisher: Capcom
Developer: Capcom
Platforms: PS5, Xbox Series X|S, PC
Release date: 2027
Monster Hunter Wilds is getting a massive expansion called Ascendance.
The expansion introduces a mysterious floating land above, new abilities, Master Rank hunts and Elder Dragons. The characters in the trailer seemed shocked by gravity-defying rocks, which feels odd in a world full of giant monsters, weaponised bagpipes and cats that cook five-course meals.
Honestly, floating rocks should be fairly low on the list of things that surprise anyone in Monster Hunter.
Swords of Legends
Publisher: Aurogon Shanghai
Developer: Aurogon Shanghai
Platforms: PS5, Xbox Series X|S, PC
Release date: Coming soon
Swords of Legends is a single-player action RPG with a Chinese fantasy setting.
The trailer showed an extended boss fight against the Master of Cantrip, a masked, floating cloth-like boss using stage magic-inspired attacks. Or, as I put it at the time, a rug with aspirations of greatness.
Combat looked slick, though this is one of those games that will live or die by how it feels in your hands.
Hot Wheels Infinite Rush
Publisher: Mattel / Milestone
Developer: Milestone
Platforms: PS5, Xbox Series X|S, PC, Nintendo Switch 2
Release date: September 24, 2026
Hot Wheels Infinite Rush is a new cartoony Hot Wheels racing game set in what appears to be a larger Hot Wheels city environment.
It looks fun, but I am curious how it differentiates itself from Hot Wheels Unleashed and Hot Wheels Unleashed 2, both of which were already good fun. It has Milestone behind it, though, so that helps.
Sonic Racing: CrossWorlds Year Two Content
Publisher: Sega
Developer: Sega
Platforms: Existing Sonic Racing: CrossWorlds platforms
Release date: 2026 and beyond
Sega announced Year Two content for Sonic Racing: CrossWorlds.
New collaborations include Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles: Mutant Mayhem, Avatar, Godzilla and Evangelion. There was also a Sonic x PICO PARK reveal.
Sonic crossing over with Godzilla and Evangelion sounds ridiculous, but also exactly like something Sega would do.
Attack on Titan 3
Publisher: Koei Tecmo
Developer: Omega Force
Platforms: PS5, Xbox Series S/X, Switch 2, PC
Release date: TBC
Attack on Titan 3 was announced by Omega Force and Koei Tecmo.
The new game will cover the story through to the anime’s climactic conclusion. The crowd knew what was happening the second “dedicate your hearts” was uttered, while I sat there feeling like the world’s least qualified games writer.
Nothing makes you feel like a poser quite like Summer Game Fest.
More info on July 6.
Clutch
Publisher: Maverick Games
Developer: Maverick Games
Platforms: PS5, Xbox Series S/X, PC
Release date: Spring 2027
Clutch, from former Forza Horizon developers at Maverick Games, received a new trailer.
Set across Monaco and the French Riviera, it mixes legal motorsport with underground street racing, sibling drama and a stronger narrative focus than your average open-world racer. The game also places more emphasis on cars showing wear and use rather than always looking showroom clean.
This is one of the games I am most interested in because the studio’s pedigree gives it a genuine chance to do something different with the racing genre.
Chronicles: Medieval
Publisher: Raw Power Games
Developer: Raw Power Games
Platforms: PC
Release date: Early Access later this year
Chronicles: Medieval is a historical strategy game with large-scale battles, horseback riding and what appears to be a hybrid structure where players can command from above while also taking part directly on the battlefield.
If it really does let you jump between strategy and action layers, it could be one to watch.
Sea of Remnants
Publisher: NetEase Games
Developer: Joker Studio
Platforms: PC, PS5, Xbox Series S/X
Release date: 2026
Sea of Remnants received a new trailer, and while I still cannot say I fully understand what the game actually is, the music absolutely slapped.
Sometimes a trailer sells you on gameplay. Sometimes it sells you on vibes. This one mostly sold me on the song.
“Sea of Remnants is a visually rich ocean adventure RPG. As a puppetfolk sailor seeking lost memories, you’ll brave dynamic seas, battle strange monsters, build your fleet, bond with 300+ companions, and shape the evolving pirate city of Orbtopia through every choice you make.”
Can’t say I got any of that through the trailer.
Hitman World of Assassination
Publisher: IO Interactive
Developer: IO Interactive
Platforms: Existing Hitman World of Assassination platforms
Release date: TBA
Hitman World of Assassination is getting another special target mission, this time involving a figure known as The Wizard. aka Wiz Khalifa
To clarify: celebrity-style assassination in the video game. Not real life. Please keep all celebrity murdering digital and fictional.
Palworld 1.0
Publisher: Pocketpair
Developer: Pocketpair
Platforms: Existing Palworld platforms
Release date: July 10
Palworld is leaving Early Access with its full 1.0 launch on July 10.
The trailer featured creature collecting, combat and someone apparently drawing a sword out of a fish. I spent a big chunk of the trailer under the assumption it was Pokemon.
The Wolf Among Us 2
Publisher: Telltale Games / Warner Bros. / Vertigo
Developer: Telltale Games
Platforms: PS5, Xbox Series X|S, PS4, Xbox One, PC
Release date: 2027
The Wolf Among Us 2 finally resurfaced with a new trailer.
Bigby Wolf is back, the fairytale noir style remains intact, and the game now has a 2027 launch window. The stiff facial animations still worry me a little, but fans seemed thrilled simply to see the game alive again. Can’t blame them – this thing was dead for so long.
The Wolf Among Us Remastered
Publisher: Telltale Games
Developer: Telltale Games
Platforms: PC, PS5, Xbox Series S/X
Release date: Holiday 2026
Before The Wolf Among Us 2 arrives, the original game is getting remastered.
It launches Holiday 2026, which is good news for people like me who somehow never got around to playing the original.
Stellar Blade: Blood Rain
Publisher: Shift Up
Developer: Shift Up
Platforms: PS5, PC, Xbox
Release date: TBA
Shift Up announced Stellar Blade: Blood Rain, a sequel currently early in development.
The new protagonist, Evie, fights with her fists rather than a sword, and the trailer showed a cyberpunk-flavoured city, mutated enemies, slick close-quarters combat and plenty of gore.
Street Fighter 6 Year 4
Publisher: Capcom
Developer: Capcom
Platforms: Existing Street Fighter 6 platforms
Street Fighter 6’s Year 4 roster was revealed.
New fighters include:
- Yasmine – August 3
- Arjun – Autumn 2026
- Tifa Lockhart – Early 2027
- Bosch – Spring 2027
Tifa joining Street Fighter 6 got a huge reaction, and her appearance also served as a neat little tease for what came next.
Final Fantasy VII Revelation
Publisher: Square Enix
Developer: Square Enix
Platforms: PS5, Xbox Series X|S, PC, Nintendo Switch 2
Release date: Spring 2027
Square Enix closed the show with Final Fantasy VII Revelation, the third and final game in the remake trilogy.
The game will launch simultaneously across all platforms, and its central theme is “resolve.” The trailer confirmed a massive world, airship exploration, the ability to jump directly from Cid’s airship to the ground below, and a new equipment system that appears to function like a job/class system.
Fans in the room went wild, and even though I am not personally a big Final Fantasy player, it was easy to recognise this as one of the biggest announcements of the night.
Final Thoughts
Summer Game Fest 2026 delivered a huge number of announcements, but I suspect opinions will vary wildly depending on individual tastes.
For me, the biggest highlights were Alien: Isolation 2, Mortal Shell II, The Blood of Dawnwalker, Star Wars Zero Company, Clutch and the new 007 First Light story content. Other viewers will likely point to Final Fantasy VII Revelation, Guild Wars 3, Attack on Titan 3, Tifa in Street Fighter 6 or The Wolf Among Us 2 instead.
And perhaps that is the biggest compliment I can give the show. It may not have had a single jaw-dropping megaton announcement, but there was enough variety that almost everyone probably walked away with at least a few games to be excited about.
Now if you’ll excuse me, I need to go figure out why Billy the Puppet from Saw rolled onto the stage to threaten Geoff Keighley.
