Ah, Sony. The hits just keep on coming, don’t they?

The PlayStation brand has taken a fairly massive PR beating lately following the announce it would cease producing physical game discs, and now it has suffered another blow—albeit a much, much smaller one—as Sony has officially delayed the launch of its FlexStrike wireless fight stick.

“Due to unexpected production delays, FlexStrike wireless fight stick will launch at a later date,” Sony announced. “We will share an update soon.”

The company has provided no additional details regarding what has delayed the product or when customers can now expect it to arrive.

“We’re working to ensure we deliver the best possible experience to our players with FlexStrike, so we’re taking extra time to put the finishing touches on the product,” Sony added.

The £179.99 fight stick was originally scheduled to launch globally on August 6 alongside MARVEL Tōkon: Fighting Souls. The fairly obvious hope was that the fighting game would become a major hit and convince some enthusiastic players to splash out on Sony’s new premium controller.

Now, though, anyone hoping to pair the two together at launch will have to wait for an unspecified amount of time.

Players who pre-ordered FlexStrike directly through PlayStation will receive further communications regarding their orders. Those who ordered it through another retailer have been told to check with that retailer for updates.

If you can’t be bothered waiting, there’s some pretty good fightsticks on the market that work with the PS5.
