On August 27th you’ll be able to get your hands on the Metal Gear Solid: Master Collection Vol. 2 for £44,99 on Xbox Series, PlayStation 5, PC, Switch and Switch. And look, there’s a new trailer to celebrate with. It’s in that box over there. The one that keeps moving around suspiciously.

Konami made the announcement today. The biggest big of news is that it contains 2008’s Metal Gear Solid 4: Gunts of the Patriots, marking the first time the game has been made available natively on modern consoles. Yes, it’s escaping PS3 prison, fnally. For the full breakdown of the improvements you can expect in this game and the rest, read to the end of this article, folks.

Confusingly, the trailer for the package includes footage from Metal Gear Solid Delta: Snake Eater, the 2025 remake, which would seem to imply it’s included in the package. There’s even a few confused commentors. But sadly, it isn’t included in the collection. Instead, it’s used to frame the collection within the wider timeline of Metal Gear Solid.

What we do get is Metal Gear Solid: Peace Walker, specifically the HD Collection version of the game. Multiplayer will be returning, too, so you can play with some friends in co-op or tackle the Versus Ops mode.

Apparently, both MGS4 and Peace Walker will be available as seperate digital purchases as well, in case you don’t want the show shebang.

Metal Gear: Ghost Babel is up next, originally released for the Game Boy Colour back in 2000. You might also know it by it’s european name of just Metal Gear Solid. It’s a seperate, non-canon adventure starring Solid Snake and will be included included in the Bonus Content section.

The Screenplay Books contain the games’ dialogue and in-game text, while the Master Books provide background information about their stories and characters. The MGS4 Database contains an encyclopedia, timeline and character-relationship chart covering the series through the events of Guns of the Patriots.

Notably, this whole collection does not include Metal Gear Solid 5 or its prologue Ground Zeroes. Whether that’s because Konami figures it doesn’t need any sort of modern release since both games are readily available, or becaus they are plannng a Vol. 3 is anyone’s guess. Maybe they could package both games together with Metal Gear Rising: Revengeance?
