Remedy has issued its latest financial report and chatted to its shareholders, and in the process revealed that Alank Wake 2 has managed to achieve 3 million copies sold.

“Alan Wake 2’s consumer sales continued at an expected pace alongside Alan Wake Remastered,” says the report In the second quarter, royalties from both titles were generated entirely by consumer sales and there were no platform deal accruals. Alan Wake 2’s lifetime sales exceeded 3 million copies during Q2.”

It has been a fairly slow burn for Alan Wake 2, which is somewhat thematically on-point. The game released back in 2023, and didn’t exactly burn down the charts despite strong reviews from both critics and players alike. It did, however, manage to become Remedy’s fastest selling game.

In February of last year, we learned it had managed to hit 2 million copies sold, a very important number because it meant the game was finally able to start turning a profit. In other words, the 1 million copies sold in the last year has fed directly into Remedy’s pockets, although a considerable number of those sales likely have not been at full price.

Part of the reason it may have sold a little slower is that the game was made in partnership with Epic. That’s why it remains an Epic Store exclusive on PC, with no plans to bring it to Steam which would probably bag it at least a few more sales.

Looking at the broader picture, Remedy’s financials are down across the board. That’s no surprising, though, because Remedy hasn’t released anything lately and is currently funding multiple projects and spending quite a bit on marketing Control Resonant which is launching in September.
