The beacons were lit. Gondor called for aid. And Lord of the Rings: War in the North answered! Yes, following the leak a few weeks ago, The Lord of the Rings: War in the North – Legacy Edition is not only real, it’s out right now.

$19.99 / £18.99 is the price, and you can grab it on PlayStation, PC, Xbox and Switch. Aspyr is listed as both publisher and developer.

What’s weird is the complete lack of fanfare for this new edition – there hasn’t even been a press release about the game’s launch put out yet, from what I can tell, so details are a little thin on the ground.

That said, there must have been at least some scuttlebutt behind the scenes, because YouTuber MrMattyPlays put out a review/impressions video as soon as the game dropped, indicating that codes were sent out at somepoint. Overall, he seems happy with this new edition.

The trailer says you can expect online co-op so that you and two other people can get stab some mountain trolls, and a promise that it has been “solo optimised”. That’s exciting, because the original game was a bit of a bugger when it came to playing alone.
