PlayStation has announced the August additions to its Plus Extra and Premium catalogues, with Helldivers 2, Kingdom Come: Deliverance 2 and Hell is Us leading a pretty strong month.
Helldivers 2 is available worldwide from today, coinciding with the release of its substantial new Devoid of Liberty update. The update has seen a big influx of players rejoin the battle for the galaxy on Steam, netting it the biggest concurrent player count it has seen since February of this year.
Here’s the release schedule, including Sony’s weird new marketing plan to make certain countries wait a week extra.

In other words, subscribers outside the UK, US and Japan receive the entire remaining lineup on 18th August. Those in the three selected markets must wait until 25th August for the final five games.
Everyone outside the UK, US and Japan will receive the full remaining lineup together on 18th August. PlayStation says it is still “exploring new ways” to deliver catalogue games in select markets, although it remains difficult to see what anyone gains from making subscribers in three major regions wait an extra week for some of them.
My guess is that Sony wants to see if stretching out the game drops helps increase player engagement.
There’s also the slightly odd inclusion of Dying Light 2, which is already one of August’s PS Plus Essential games and can currently be permanently added to your library, provided you remain subscribed. Its arrival in the Extra catalogue does at least mean future subscribers will still have access once the Essential offer ends on 31st August.
Whatever is going on with the release schedule, this is a solid month. Helldivers 2, Kingdom Come: Deliverance 2, Hell is Us, Vampire Survivors and Two Point Museum make for a very respectable selection — even if PlayStation insists on delivering it in several unnecessarily confusing chunks.
