It’s time for another batch of monthly free games from PlayStation. Well, sort of “free” since you need an active PS Plus subscription to claim and play them.

This new collection of titles will be available to download from the 1st of September. So, what have we got?

The headliner for this month is Sniper Elite: Resistance (PS4, PS5), the latest entry in the long-running double-A franchise about shooting Nazis in the testicles from extremely far away. It was released at the beginning of 2025, and doesn’t really add much new to the series, yet remains a hugely entertaining romp, regardless.

And when you’ve mastered your rifle,customize your character and loadout as you take the fight online in competitive 16-player battles to earn XP, medals and ribbons. If competition isn’t your style, you can also team up with up to 3 other players against waves of enemies in Survival mode.”

Next up is MLB The Show 26 (PS5), which originally launched on March 17 of this year, so it’s still pretty fresh. It holds a 74 on Opencritic, aggregated from 33 critic reviews, so they seemed to like it.

Since I know exactly nothing about baseball or this series, I’ll just leave you with the blurb: “Create your legacy from the first pitch to the final inning with the most immersive MLB The Show yet. Chained Echoes (PS4) is up next, a 2022 release from publisher Deck13 Spotlight and developer Matthias Linda. It’s a strong 89 over on Opencritic and holds a “Very Positive” rating on Steam.

“Chained Echoes is a story-driven single player JRPG where a group of heroes travel around the vast continent of Valandis to bring an end to the war between its three kingdoms. In the course of their journey, they will travel through a wide array of diverse landscapes spanning from wind-tanned plateaus and exotic archipelagos to sunken cities and forgotten dungeons. Take up your sword, channel your magic or board your Mech. Chained Echoes is a 16-bit Golden Era style RPG set in a fantasy world where dragons are as common as piloted mechanical suits.”

I don’t usually touch JRPGs, but I’ve been wanting to expand my horizons a little, so this might be a good excuse.

Finally, Wobbly Life (PS5, PS5) brings up the rear and for good reason. It’s a 2025 release that cashes in on the friendslop trend and the idea of goofy gaming due to dodgy controls. It has great reviews on Steam. I didn’t think much of it when I played with a few friends, but clearly I’m missing something. If you’ve got a few pals, it should be a blast.

And that’s your lot for September. It doesn’t seem like a strong selection to my mind, even though I really love the Sniper Elite series. How do you feel about it?
