It can be pretty tough out there for new games these days, but that isn’t the case for The Blood of Dawnwalker because it selling copies like crazy.
According to developer Rebel Wolves over on X, The Blood of Dawnwalker has already surpassed 1 million copies sold. Keep in mind, the bloody thing only came out on September 3, so that’s a million copies in just two days.
Not bad for a company founded in 2022. This is their first game, a brand new IP with no major brand recognition behind it to help drive sales, but since the moment it was announced The Blood of Dawnwalker has been turning heads. Each new trailer that dropped sparked more excitement.
And why not? Rebel Wolves is made up of a lot of former CD Projekt Red employees and carries a hefty dose of The Witcher 3 DNA. I’ve had it on my watchlist for ages, but ultimately decided to skip it in September due to the sheer number of games launching. But I intend to pick it up soon, or persuade someone to buy it for my birthday.
Speaking of a busy September, that makes the game’s sales even more impressive. There are a lot of big games vying for everyone’s attention and money this month, including the likes of Insomniac’s Wolverine, Control Resonant and more.
It’s not like it’s just selling well, either. The Blood of Dawnwalker is doing everything right. It’s holding an aggregated review score of 85 on Opencritic, and a “very positive” rating over on Steam from over 4,500 reviews.
