I’d like you to stop and think about the fact that is has been eight bloody years since Bethesda announced The Elder Scrolls VI. Eight. Sodding. Years. And since then, we have barely heard a thing about it. But now, we have a snippet of information: it might be called Sentinel.
Tom Warren has the scoop at The Verge, writing that a source “familiar with Bethesda’s plans” informed him that the next game will be titled The Elder Scrolls VI: Sentinel.
Warren also says the announcement could come as soon as next month, aligning with the 15 year anniversary of the release of Skyrim. Wait. 15 years? Good grief.
The name isn’t actually much of a surprise, though. Fans have been guessing that the game might be titled Sentinel, especially if it’s set in Hammerfell, which according to Warren, it is. In fact, there was even an anonymous claim a few months ago that the game would be titled Sentinel and be set in both Hammerfell and High Rock.
Meanwhile, Asha Sharma teased the game’s subtitle would be 8 characters long, which again led to a bunch of people guessing Sentinel would be the name.
And there was also a code in Starfield that spelled out Sentinel, which people quickly linked to The Elder Scrolls.
