Asssassin’s Creed: Black Flag was seemingly a success for Ubisoft. Last we heard it had managed to sell 3.5 million copies in just a few weeks of launching. Despite this, though, Ubisoft says there are not working on any more remakes right now.

In a big new update post about Assassin’s Creed, Ubisoft tackle the question directly in a section titled “What About Other Remakes?”.

“One thing we want to be transparent about today is that we currently have no other Assassin’s Creed remake actively in development. Our teams are already focused on the next chapter of Assassin’s Creed titles, including projects you haven’t heard about yet, featuring new settings and stories,” says the post.

As our first-ever franchise remake, Resynced taught us a tremendous amount. Taking on a game that holds such a special place in players’ hearts brought both excitement and challenges. Rebuilding old systems from scratch, adding new elements that fit the experience, and balancing legacy with innovation was a massive undertaking. We’re super proud of what the Resynced team delivered and how well it was received.

Now, there is something worth noting here: the post only specifies remakes. It does not rule out remasters. Presumably if the team went back to the original Assassin’s Creed games they would also be remakes like Black Flag. Still, I can’t help but feel ubisoft are being very careful with their words here.

And Ubisoft are leaving the door wide open for future remakes.

Like many of you, we love the idea of revisiting our classic titles, and we’ll keep exploring opportunities to bring older titles back.

That door remains open because, after all… Nothing is true, everything is permitted.

Given how much I actually enjoyed Black Flag, I would not be opposed to Assassin’s Creed 2 getting the remake treatment, so I’m keeping my fingers crossed.

But for now, nothing is being worked on. Except new Assassin’s Creed games. The same blog post provided some small updates on current projects such as Codename Invictus. Ubisoft says their first private Insiders Session went well, but that players also wanted more of “the pillars that define Assassin’s Creed” so they’ve spent the past few months working on that feedback.

Meanwhile, Codename Hexe is still being worked on, with the next major update planned for 2027. They also shared this secret code: ZKLWAVN MBEXNK ULYCNJ… LWY01… I#########F

If you’d like the solved version, it appears to read: LOADING ANIMUS MEMORY… SEQ01… B#########T

Assassin’s Creed Black Flag Resynced Review – Back In Black

Thirteen years later, Assassin’s Creed Black Flag remains one of the finest pirate games ever made. Resynced gives it a gorgeous new coat of paint and some welcome improvements, but a handful of strange removals and weaker additions stop it from becoming the definitive version that it should have been.
