“Do a remake!” That’s not the iconic line from Star Fox on the N64, but it should have been because Nintendo has just announced Star Fox for the Switch 2, a remake of the classic game, due out June 22 for Switch 2.

The announcement was made in a 17-minute-long unannounced Nintendo Direct on YouTube, which would have been a complete shock had the whole thing not been leaked last week by Nate the Hate.

Then again, Nintendo themselves did kind of tease it by including a Star Fox cameo in The Super Mario Galaxy Movie.

This is set to be a ground-up remake of the original. It’ll still be an on-rails shooter, but there will be added mouse controls and a 2-player co-op mode.

New story content is also being added to the campaign, including mission briefings that help expand the world and characters. And speaking of the campaign, there will be easy, medium and hard modes, too.

There’s also a new Challenge mode that lets you replay missions with new challenges.

Battle Mode is a 4v4 multiplayer dogfighting mode where you need to complete objectives to win the game. And on the topic of online, you can apply AR filters to the gamechat when playing with friends, so when they speak, it’ll look like one of the in-game characters.
