On a new episode of the official Xbox podcast, Matt Booty set some expectations for the upcoming Xbox showcase event, emphasising that “We really want to focus on the teams and on the games.”

To that end, Booty says the show will not be all about Xbox’s strategy and what the brand intends on doing under the leadership of Asha Sharma, although he doesn’t rule out a few snippets here and there.

He also confirmed in the podcast that Fable has been pushed back to 2027.

“This is not going to be a place where we’re going to talk about strategy broadly.” – Matty Booty

“There are certainly some strategic things that are out there and things we want to bring clarity to. But the focus here is on the games.” – Matt Booty

Asha Sharma has been pretty busy so far, bringing the price of Game Pass back down a little, rebranding Xbox to XBOX for some reason, openly discussing the failures of the company and more. So there is, understandly, a lot of people waiting to hear if they are going to be making any more major u-turns or changes to Xbox. But it sounds like the showcase won’t be the place for that.

“For the long term, we want to make the right decisions, not fast decisions,” said Booty.

And don’t expect the next-gen Xbox, currently called Xbox Helix, to make an appearence, either.

“And I can also say that there won’t be Helix news,” said Booty. And then he said it again later, just in case you missed it: “So Helix will not be in this Showcase.”

As for the topic of what games might be launching where, Booty says Xbox will remain transparent: “We’ll be very clear about what platforms a game is coming to and want to continue the precedent.”

At least now we can set our expectations for the event.
