Best of Game Pass: The Hitman Trilogy

Gamepass is already one hell of a value proposition, which is exactly why people continue to debate whether it actually earns Microsoft any profit or if it’s an unsustainable model kept afloat by Microsoft’s vast cash reserves. Either way, for us gamers it is an almost absurd deal. And in that absurdity is even more insane value: The Hitman Trilogy, combining the World of Assassination trilogy from IO Interactive into one massive package boasting 20 levels with some of the best replay value around. Even if you just play around once or twice in a level you could easily spend a few hours in it, but if you’re like me that just isn’t enough and dozens upon dozens of hours later you might finally wrap up your career as Hitman.

Hitman 3 Review – Greatest Hits, Man

IO Interactive are back with the final chapter in their World of Assassination trilogy that began back in 2016 as an experimental episodic game. While it’s a tad sad that IO Interactive are leaving Hitman behind, at least, for now, they’re moving on to create a 007 game which I can’t wait to see. So, with Hitman and Hitman 2 being some of my favourite games…well, ever, how does Hitman 3 stack up? Is this the big send-off myself and millions of people were hoping for? Or is a bit like those assassinations that go horribly wrong and end up with you cowering behind a wall?

Weekend Whammy: Skate & Murder & Glitches

Hello, hello, and hello my fine fellow humans! I hope you all had a kickass Christmas and a most excellent New Year. It was quiet here for both events. I picked up one of my brothers for Christmas day, and had both nieces up on Christmas Eve so they could open their presents. And then New Year was nothing special because lockdown was in full effect, so there was nowhere to go. It felt strange not spending New Year in the company of my best mate, matching stupid videos, playing Trials and making lame jokes. I made lame jokes and played Trials on my own, but it just wasn’t the same.

Weekend Whammy: What Are You Playing This Weekend?

The weekend has snuck up like some sort of professional hitman and executed a perfect stealth take down on my sorry excuse for a body. Still, weekends mean its time to pack in a whole lot of gaming, movies, books and other entertainment. Let’s do it!

I’m going to keep this one relatively brief as my new nephew (he’s four months old) has come to visit this weekend. For the most part I’ve been putting in the time with Darksiders 3, a game I’ve been eagerly awaiting and was genuinely afraid we’d never see given the IP was in limbo for a long time. It hasn’t blown me away so far and I do sort of miss the loot system from Darksiders 2, but it has been a pretty solid action romp with awesome art design.

Hitman 2 Review – Near Perfect Assassination

So far I’ve knocked out people with a fish, a brick of cocaine, a thrown apple and a variety of blunt objects. I’ve also drowned people in toilets, blown them up with fireworks, fed them poisoned chips, shoved them off cliffs, dropped sharks on them, squashed them with speakers and so much more. I’ve dressed as a waiter, a garbage man, security, a fast food vendor, a servant, a racing driver, a doctor and even a pink flamingo. It’s all just in a days work for a professional Hitman.

Hitman Intro Pack Review – It’s A Hit, Man

Agent 47 returns in controversial fashion as Square Enix implement a bold episodic plan for one of their biggest licenses, something which we’ll discuss later in this review. But for now we have a taster of what is to come, enough to get a handle on whether IO have managed to bring their iconic character back into the favor of gamers after Absolution, a title that I personally really enjoyed but is often cited as being much weaker than fan-favorite Blood Money. Simply titled Hitman this fresh approach to selling a triple A game could be seen as a soft reboot of sorts, one that could potentially be the herald of big changes within the industry if its business model succeeds. There’s a lot riding on this, then, so is it any good?
