Y’know the expression, life kicking you when you’re down? I realized it isn’t so much life somehow getting worse, but more that relatively small problems feel so much worse because you’re already stressed and angry. I’m encountering this right now. On my post where I talked about taking a quick break I mentioned some…personal family troubles we’re going through regarding my sibling. Things are still rough at the moment, and while I don’t mean to diminish how bad it is for my sibling, the stress and stuff does transfer over. I’m not sleeping well, I’m worried, I’m tired, I’m angry, hence the need for a break. But anyway, back to the point: it looks like my power supply in my PC is on the fritz, and so it just feels like life has stuck on its steel-capped work boots, taken a few steps back so it can get a proper run up and has kicked me right in the ribcage. Of course, that’s not the case. I think it’s more that my power supply dying isn’t a huge problem, or at least not one I’d stress over this much normally. Sure, I don’t have the cash to replace it, but normally I’d get annoyed, shrug it off and just accept that these things happen and that my computer could end up being out of action for a short while in the near future. But because of everything else, I’ve taken this whole power supply like a personal affront to my existence as if God himself emerged from the clouds and broke it. It’s like an entirely unjustifiable feeling of anger I have toward my power supply right now. Like, if it was a person I’d kick it in the balls and make some sort of joke about its mamma.
The audio version of this week’s Weekend Whammy is finally up, so kick back and listen to my dumb voice rambling about Game Pass being awesome for multiplayer, getting annoyed at Sony for not warning Vita developers about the story shutting down, loot boxes being linked to gambling AGAIN and loads more.
Welcome back to another Weekend Whammy, my fair folk! This week I’ll be talking about Game Pass being the perfect multiplayer destination, Sony shutting down the PS3, PSP and Vita stores, new research on whether loot boxes constitute gambling and much more
Sup’ my gaming brothers and sisters! Yup, it’s another Weekend Whammy where I spout nonsense and then question all my life choices leading up to this moment in time. I haven’t put out any reviews, so instead I’ll just be jumping straight into the news this week because Sony decided to just go nuts all of a sudden. But I did put out the second part of Best of Xbox Game Pass and thus you should go and read it. Go on. Go do it. Go. GO!
If you have somehow managed to acquire a mythical Playstation 5, perhaps using occult rituals or something, then you might also be eyeing up some of the official Sony accessories to go with your sleek new console. The charging dock and the Pulse headset are the obvious choices, but something a bit less obvious is the official Playstation 5 Media Remote that promises the be the ultimate in media control! Er, well, actually, it just promises to let you, “Conveniently navigate entertainment on your PlayStation®5 console with intuitive media and TV controls.” But is it actually any good at that? Let’s find out.
Things are going from bad to worse for CD Projekt RED (CDPR) and the highly-anticipated Cyberpunk 2077, which for many was the biggest and most exciting launch of the year. Thanks to their success with The Witcher 3, CDPR were riding high atop a wave of love and were valued at around $8-billion, making them worth more than even Ubisoft. They were the darlings of the game industry, and somehow in less than a week they’ve burned it all to the ground.
Having been absurdly lucky enough to stumble into a PS5 pre-order among the absolute chaos, I’ve now had the Playstation 5 for a few weeks and have been playing it every day. So, with lots of thoughts about Sony’s newest, shiniest, biggest console swirling about my head, I present to you my rambling review of the PS5. Is this new generation worth jumping into? Does it have any major problems? Are there actually games to play on it? WHY IS IT SO DAMN BIG!?
The first thing on the agenda this week is a little bit of site maintenance news. Normally I put the the donation box on the bottom of the page, but this week it’s up top. I know, Know. I don’t want to come across like a clingy ex. The reason its up here is because in the next few weeks this site’s annual running costs will be, totalling just under £300. It’s not a lot of cash in the grand scheme, but as most of you already know I don’t work due to my Cystic Fibrosis and I don’t run this site for profit outside of the occasional sponsored post. So if you can afford to chuck a few coins toward keeping WGB going, I’d appreciate it greatly. If you can’t afford to then I understand perfectly. Maybe considering sacrificing a family member on my behalf? I won’t judge.
Today, my fellow squishy beings, is my birthday. Therefore I will be requiring you all to worship my divine brilliance for at least five minutes before you read the rest of this week’s Weekend Whammy. Start worshipping. Done? Alright, we can get on with this, then. Joking aside, as always I hope you’re all keeping well, staying safe and getting to play loads of games. On this Weekend Whammy I’m going to tackling Insomniac’s announcement that they’ve recast Spider-Man. I’ll also be talking about what I’m playing and planning on review. So let’s do this!
I’ve really been letting these Weekend Whammys slip, haven’t I? I’ll be honest, the motivation is a tad lacking at the moment. My physical health took a bit of a plummet recently, and in turn that’s smacked my mental health right in the mental balls. But never mind that because since my last Weekend Whammy there’s been loads of stuff happening, some of it good and some of it bad! I’m going to chat about just a little bit of it, so let’s chat The Last of Us 2, Sony’s PS5 and more.
