Codemasters have launched a new teaser trailer for the forthcoming F1 2015 which indicates the game has been delayed by an entire month. F1 2015 was originally meant to launch on Xbox One, PS4 and PC on June 12th, but the trailer lists its new release date as July 12th.
Codemasters previous told Eurogamer that they were aiming to hit 60fps on both consoles, saying, “On console we’ve had it very, very close to 60fps, certainly on PS4,” F1 2015’s game designer Steven Embling explained. “Everyone at the studio is doing a fantastic with the optimisation, and we’re in the final couple of months before release where there’s a big push that we hit that 60fps, and that’s the plan.”
The delay could be a simple case of Codemasters failing to get the game dialed in at 60FPS, as racing is one of those genres were frame drops are quite noticable. Regardless of the cause it does once again feel like a case of publishers and developers announcing a game’s release date before they were actually truly sure they could make it.
Ah well. As a petrol head I’m looking forward to seeing how the new game pans out since it’s the first one built for current-gen consoles. Codemaster’s series has gotten stale of late, so let’s hope this new entry shakes things up.
It’s been a while since I played a F1 game. Might be time to get back into it.
F1 2010 was the last F1 game I played, and I didn’t really enjoy it. The controls were too sensitive and they graphics wasn’t as nice, hope F1 2015 is better.
