Nintendo has given into the pressures of the current market and followed Microsoft and Sony’s example by officially raising the price of the Switch 2.
“We sincerely apologize for the impact these price revisions may have on our customers and other stakeholders, and we deeply appreciate your understanding,” said Nintendo in the announcement.
In the US, Switch 2 prices for rise from $449.99 to $499.99, a roughly 10% jump. In Europe, it will go from €469.99 to €499.99, or roughly 6.38%. No UK specific prices were confirmed as of yet.
In Japan, both the Switch and Switch 2 will see price jumps as well. The Japan-only Switch 2 variant will go from ¥49,980 to ¥59,980, a much bigger jump of around 20%.
Price increases for the original Switch were also announced, but so far only seem to apply to Japan. However, an asterix at the bottom of the article says: “Price revisions for Nintendo Switch 2 and Nintendo Switch will be implemented in other regions”.
| Nintendo Switch | Current Price | Revised Price |

It isn’t just consoles seeing a price bump, either, as Nintendo also announced that Nintendo Switch Online will cost more, too. At the bottom of that section, it states that Nintendo Switch Online prices are also planned for South Korea, but no other regions are mentioned, so its unclear if we will see an increase, too.

With Nintendo now joining in the fun and raising the price of their consoles for the first time in their history, we now have a situation where all three consoles cost significantly more to purchase than they did at launch. What a world we live in, eh?
