Forza Horizon 6 has been out for around a week now, if you include its early access phase, which plenty of people did based on the early Steam numbers we saw before its full release on May 19. But how are the sales looking? Excellent, based on a report from Alinea Analytics.

As always, Alinea Analytics uses a mixture of its own unique maths, a sprinkle of black magic and maybe even some ancient blood rituals to determine sales, so don’t use these as 100% accurate. With that said, they are typically very close to reality.

According to the latest insight newsletter from Rhys Elliott of Alinea, Forza Horizon 6 is nearing 5 million copies sold already, bringing in around $325 million in gross revenue. How near 5 million is it? 4.9 million, apparently.

Breaking it down, their numbers suggest that 1.7 million players opted to pay for the Premium Edition to get early access, including people who paid for the Game Pass upgrade pack. Again, those early Steam numbers we saw clearly indicated people were willing to pay $120 to play early.

Breaking it down further, Xbox accounted for a whopping 2.1m (42%) copies sold, which, as Rhys notes, is very unusual for the console, especially with Game Pass so easily available. Speaking of which, another 3 million people have apparently played it via the subscription service.

Meanwhile, 2.8 million copies have been sold on Steam.

This currently makes Forza Horizon 6 the 4th best-selling game of the year so far, according to Alinea’s numbers. There’s a strong chance that it will rise rapidly, and the PS5 release later this year will probably bring a few more million copies sold, if Forza Horizon 5’s success is anything to go by – it sold 6 million copies.

I’m playing Forza Horizon 6 at the moment and having a blast. As sequels go, there’s actually not a whole lot that’s new in terms of how it plays, but the Japan map is lovely, and the racing is still heaps of fun. Look for a review soon.
