Let’s take a look at some good old-fashioned sales data from across Xbox, PlayStation and PC, shall we? Because number 1 is a bit of a doozy.
The data comes from Alinea Analytics, a company that uses its own algorithms to predict game sales. This means the data is not 100% accurate, but the company tends to get pretty damn close, so while you should certainly take it all with some salt, a tiny pinch should do the trick.
Leading the charge at 13 million copies sold is everybody’s favourite artistic friendslop game, Meccha Chameleon. That means since we last got sales data from the developers themselves, the game has shifted another 5 million copies.
Keep in mind, this list organised by copies sold, not cash generated. Meccha Chameleon has brought in about $58 million in gross revenue. Not bad for a game which was produced on a shoestring budget and caffeine, but it does mean other titles on here have brought in a lot more cash.
That is underselling the story a little bit, though. There has been a lot of chatter about the game being built in just two months by two developers in Japan, and while that is broadly true, there is a little more to it than that.
Mecha Chameleon’s developers originally prototyped the game inside Fortnite’s UEFN, essentially giving themselves a free testbed to figure out the idea. From there, they built the Steam version using a bunch of reused assets from their earlier projects, meaning this “two-month build” was also sitting on top of years of accumulated experience, tools, assets and hard graft.
Still, the core point stands: even with that context, this is a game that came together incredibly quickly. That makes its reported $58 million in gross revenue all the more impressive.
The rest of Alinea’s list is a little less surprising. According to Alinea Analytics, FC 26 sits at 9.1 million copies sold this year, with more than half of those copies apparently coming via PlayStation.
Alinea’s Rhys Elliott also makes an interesting point about the franchise’s future in the United States. With football continuing to gain ground there, he believes FC 27’s launch later this year could be the biggest the series has ever seen in the US, where football is certainly enjoyed, but has never quite been treated like a national obsession in the same way it is across Europe.
Resident Evil Requiem is sitting at 7.6 million copies sold, doing solid work for Capcom which is continuing its resurgence into a videogame superpwer. The platform split is fascinating, too: 46% of sales were on PlayStation 5, 45% were on Steam, and just 9% were on Xbox. According to Alinea, the game is also closing in on half a billion dollars in gross revenue.

Forza Horizon 6 and Arc Raiders are effectively tied next, with both sitting at 7.4 million copies sold. Alinea’s own graph places Forza Horizon 6 above Arc Raiders, although it does not explain why. The most obvious distinction is that Forza Horizon 6 launched this year, whereas Arc Raiders originally launched on October 30, 2025. Or maybe Rhys Elliott is sneakily trying to tell us he prefers Forza Horizon 6?
That does make Forza’s number arguably more immediately impressive, especially as 4 million of its sales came on Xbox and 3.4 million came through Steam. It is worth noting, though, that Elliott is also counting sales from Game Pass players who purchased the $59.99 Premium Upgrade Bundle, which feels fair enough, even if it is not technically the same thing as a full copy sold.
Forza Horizon 6 Review – Tuned To Perfection
Forza Horizon 6 heads to Japan and somehow manages to be both the best Horizon game yet and the safest sequel Playground Games has ever made. The stunning new setting, superb handling and endless stream of content make it ridiculously fun to play, even if the formula is beginning to show signs of exhaustion. It…
Elliott predicts Forza Horizon 6 will hit 10 million copies sold this quarter, helped by the fact it has sold another 1.4 million copies across the last two months. There is also a planned PlayStation 5 port due later this year, which could easily push the game even higher. Forza Horizon 5 sold 6.2 million copies on PS5 in its first 14 months, so a final figure of 15 million or more for Forza Horizon 6 does not feel out of reach.
Alinia analyst Rhys Elliott also notes that, outside of Call of Duty and Minecraft, Forza Horizon is probably now Xbox’s biggest IP. Honestly, I would be inclined to agree.
Arc Raiders, meanwhile, reaching the same 7.4 million figure is still hugely impressive, especially since it is doing so several months after launch. A little under half of those sales apparently came in January alone, as the game continued riding its launch-window momentum into the new year.
However, the live service picture is a little more complicated. Elliott notes that monthly active users have dropped considerably from a peak of 10.7 million to around 3.7 million. That sounds like a big decline, but 3.7 million monthly active users is still a very healthy number for a live service game nine months into its lifespan.
Finally, we have Slay the Spire 2 at 7 million copies sold, which is especially impressive considering it is only available on PC. According to Elliott, sales were heavily front-loaded, with 5.3 million copies coming in March, its launch month. Since then, it has added another 1.7 million copies, with around 270,000 of those coming last month.
Of course, Slay the Spire 2 is still in Early Access, so its eventual 1.0 release could provide another major spike. Console versions also feel inevitable, and once those arrive, this thing could become absolutely massive. Elliott predicts it could eventually clear 15 million copies, and again, I would not argue with that. The potential is clearly there.
It goes without saying that all of these games will be blown out of the water by GTA 6 when it launches later this year, so really, everybody is fighting for 2nd place in terms of best-selling. Who do you think will take the silver spot?
