September is coming, which means it’s time for another PlayStation State of Play and this time it’s being joined by a State of Play Japan straight afterwards.

The event will air  September 3, starting at 6:00am PT / 9:00am ET / 3:00pm CEST / 10:00pm JST on YouTube and Twitch. Right after, State of Play Japan will kick off.

What can we expect? Well, PlayStation isn’t giving us much to go on, simply promising “updates and announcements from PlayStation Studios and our third-party partners”. But we do get one definite inclusion: Final Fantasy VII Revelation will get an “extended look.”

As for State of Play Japan, it’s equally mysterious. Sony simply says it will ” offer deep dives into upcoming games from game studios in Japan and Asia, including new gameplay, announcements, and more.”

There are probably some very bets, though. Marvel’s Wolverine is due to launch just 12 days after State of Play, so we’ll probably see some sort of launch trailer or something celebrating the hairy little man-beast.

I’m also expecting some sort of Marvel Tokon Fighting Souls presence, perhaps even an announcement of new characters or DLC.

Until Dawn 2 could be a fairly safe bet because while it isn’t scheduled for launch until June 2027, the developers did say they would be sharing more details in the coming months, which would be about….*checks watch* now.

Other than that, we venture into more speculative lands. Will Intergalactic: The Heretic Prophet make an appearance? Fairgames has also been quiet for a long time now, and is rumoured to have undergone a name change to become Break In. Then there’s Horizon Hunters Gathering, which probably would have been an obvious choice, except behind-the-scenes reports are saying it is being rebooted, including ripping out all of the live-service elements.

What do you guys think will make an appearance? Any big new announcements from some studios that have been quiet?
