Razer’s new Barracuda V2 Pro wireless headset has been announced AND launches today for the princely sum of £199.99, with simultaneous 2.4GHz wireless and Bluetooth audio as its main selling point. That means you can keep listening to game audio through the dongle while also listening to a podcast, music or calls from your phone over Bluetooth. I’ve been testing the headset for review, and this has quickly become one of its most useful features.
The Barracuda V2 Pro is built for use across PC, mobile, console and handheld gaming. It has 40mm Razer TriForce Bio-Cellulose drivers, Hybrid Active Noise Cancellation and THX Spatial Audio+ on PC, which adds virtual 7.1.4 surround sound, including overhead audio channels. Razer also lists a detachable boom microphone and internal beamforming microphones, both supported by AI-powered noise cancellation.
The headset weighs 285g and folds flat for travel, with a compartment in the earcup for its wireless dongle. Razer claims up to 70 hours of battery life, though that figure will depend on how you use features such as ANC.
At £199.99, it’s a premium headset, so the simultaneous audio and noise-cancelling features will need to do a lot of the heavy lifting. I’ve found the sound quality good so far, but the ability to mix game and phone audio without fiddling with connections is the feature that has made the strongest impression on me. Keep an eye out for an actual review, once I finally stop listening to podcasts while also chasing the Platinum trophy in Star Wars: Galactic Racer.
