Is it even a good show these days if a game isn’t shadow-dropped? Well, Sony delivered exactly that when then they revealed and released a new God of War title.

God of War: Sons of Sparta is the long-rumoured 2D game developed by Santa Monica Studio and Mega Cat Studios. You’ll play as Kratos long before he became the world’s angriest dad with the palest skin as he fights alongside his brother Deimos as they undergo training at the Spartan Agoge.

According to the PlayStation blog post, while Mega Cat Games handled the gameplay, the writing was done by the same team that worked on God of War and God of War: Ragnarock.

Furthermore, original Kratos voice actor TC Carson reprises his role as the adult Kratos who is narrating the entire game.

The game is available right now on PS5.
