With Microsoft now owning Zenimax, and therefore Bethesda, it seemed only right to pick out a Bethesda title from Game Pass to highlight this week. The game I chose is a personal favourite and comes from the excellent minds at Arkane whose talent for designing awesome levels has made them a developer I love and adore. Yep, my choice for this week is Dishonored, the first-person stealth ‘n stab adventure where ever playthrough starts with me promising to avoid killing before inevitably turning into the kind of blood bath that would make Sub-Zero go for a bit of a lie-down.
Welcome, friends, to the very first episode of the new Wolf’s Gaming Podcast series. Don’t worry, there will be a regular written Weekend Whammy as well, but if you prefer to listen to the most majestic, sexy voice to have ever emanated from a human mouth, click that play button!
Today, my fellow squishy beings, is my birthday. Therefore I will be requiring you all to worship my divine brilliance for at least five minutes before you read the rest of this week’s Weekend Whammy. Start worshipping. Done? Alright, we can get on with this, then. Joking aside, as always I hope you’re all keeping well, staying safe and getting to play loads of games. On this Weekend Whammy I’m going to tackling Insomniac’s announcement that they’ve recast Spider-Man. I’ll also be talking about what I’m playing and planning on review. So let’s do this!
Welcome back to the Weekend Whammy! As always and forever, I’m the idiot running this little Internet asylum and the Weekend Whammy is where I chat about…er, anything, really. But this week it’s very much gaming related stuff because loads of exciting things have happened. So lets jump into it, shall we?
Years ago I used to get excited about E3 and the myriad of game announcements that would flood from out of it. But these days it’s a little harder to get excited about the event for a variety of reasons. The strange way in which its ran has resulted in a lot of companies holding their own conferences and events outside of E3. Over the years its become more and more commercial with more and more stilted speeches.
The weekend has snuck up like some sort of professional hitman and executed a perfect stealth take down on my sorry excuse for a body. Still, weekends mean its time to pack in a whole lot of gaming, movies, books and other entertainment. Let’s do it!
I’m going to keep this one relatively brief as my new nephew (he’s four months old) has come to visit this weekend. For the most part I’ve been putting in the time with Darksiders 3, a game I’ve been eagerly awaiting and was genuinely afraid we’d never see given the IP was in limbo for a long time. It hasn’t blown me away so far and I do sort of miss the loot system from Darksiders 2, but it has been a pretty solid action romp with awesome art design.
Arkane return after four years with a sequel to one of my favorite games of all time, Dishonored. Can the sequel hold up to scrutiny?
The start of Bethesda’s conference may have hinted at a new Wolfenstein game, or a new chunk of DLC. A bootup sequence listed the launch dates of past Wolfenstein games, along with one titled New Colossus which didn’t have any date beside it. Interestingly New Colossus is a […]
During their conference Bethesda and Arkane showed off a surprising amount of Dishonored 2 gameplay, giving us a look at a few different missions and a number of different powers. The trailer above gives glimpses of what was shown, but some other material is also revealed for the […]
Having long been rumoured Bethesda lifted the lid on a remastered version of their absurdly popular Elder Scrolls V: Skyrim, due for release on the 26th of October on PS4, Xbox One and PC. Titled the Special Edition consoles are going to get a big graphical upgrade as […]
