Reliable insider and knower of things Nate the Hate has confirmed that the long-rumoured (and hoped for) current-gen update for Red Dead Redemption 2 is real, as is the Switch 2 port. Best of all, both are scheduled for this year.
Speaking on the latest episode of his podcast, Nate the Hate’s co-host was throwing around ideas about what may appear at the Xbox showcase/Summer Game Fest and mentioned all of the Red Dead Redemption 2 rumours. Nate the Hate had this to say: “Right, so, I will comment on those rumours: it’s true, Red Dead Redemption 2 is getting a next-gen update and the game will be coming to Nintendo Switch 2 later this year.”
Nate went on to say that he was actually going to hold off sharing that information until it was time to make a Nintendo Direct predictions video, as “I feel that’s a game Nintendo would want to have as kind of a headliner in the direct”.
His co-host floated the idea of the update and port hitting this holiday, to which Nate replied: “Yeah, from what I was told it should be a few months after the Switch 2 launch, so I’m thinking maybe that late summer, early Fall window.”
Of course, fans have been hoping since the Xbox Series X and PlayStation 5 launched that Rockstar would update their massive cowboy game to take advantage of the hardware, but Rockstar has always been weird about updating their titles. Look how long it took them to give us a better version of Red Dead Redemption, after all.
